Sumitomo Generation 3 Spacer Installation¶
During the deprisurization process, it is important to carefully follow the steps outlined below to ensure the proper installation of the Generation 3 spacer and subsequently the successful installation of the cold head into the magnet. [1]
Depressurize the new Cold Head¶
Depressurize the new cold head and remove the cold head and displacers from the transfer cylinder.
Verify the Bottom Cup¶
During the removal of the transfer cylinder it is common for the bottom cup to fall out of position. Ensure that the o-rings are aligned properly and that the bottom cup is seated correctly before proceeding with the installation of the spacer or else it wont fit.
Install the Generation 3 Spacer¶
Carefully place the Generation 3 spacer into position, making sure it is properly aligned with the scotch yoke. Press gently to ensure a secure fit without damaging any components. If the spacer does not fit easily ensure that the displacer assembly is extended fully and that the bottom cup is seated correctly.
